Recruiters welcome AWR review

Businesses needing help from an employment contract law service to deal with Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) may be among those welcoming the government's decision to review the legislation.
This week, business secretary Vince Cable said the administrative implications of AWR would be reviewed within the next 18 months.
Stemming from a European Union directive and implemented in October this year, the law affords temporary workers many of the same employment rights as permanent staff.
In his speech, Mr Cable underlined that "flexible labour markets are an essential component of a successful economy".
Gillian Econopouly, head of policy at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), said officials at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills made it clear that this will not be a review of the overall regulations.
"However, the commitment to identify and address unnecessary bureaucracy around AWR implementation is good news and something the REC has been calling for," she added.
