Unite votes to strike over pensions

Members of Unite, which provides trade union support to 1.5 million workers, have voted to strike over planned changes to their pension schemes.
Three in four members of the union working in the health, civil service and local authority sectors backed industrial action for November 30th.
They will join millions of other public sector workers whose unions, including Unison, have also voted to strike over plans to base their pensions on Consumer Price Index inflation, rather than the traditionally higher Retail Price Index.
Unite general secretary Len McCluskey said public sector workers believe that "enough is enough".
He continued: "They have endured wages cuts, rising living costs and horrific job losses, as this government forces the less well off in this country to pay for the sins of the elite."
In Scotland, the Scottish government has agreed to freeze the increase in contributions for two years.
Unite is part of a group of unions currently fighting the planned pension reforms in the High Court.
