UCATT to survey gender discrimination in construction industry

Construction union UCATT is looking to get a better understanding of the numbers of women in the industry who could need help from an employment discrimination claim solicitor.
The union has launched a survey that will examine the level of harassment, discrimination and bullying experienced by women construction workers.
It wants all women in the construction sector to participate in the confidential online survey.
George Guy, acting general secretary of UCATT, notes that the construction sector does not have a very good record of treating female workers fairly.
Anecdotal evidence shows women construction workers are more vulnerable to experiencing bullying and harassment, he explains.
Mr Guy added: "In the 21st century all workers have the right to work without being victimised and harassed. That includes all construction workers, regardless of gender, race, religion or sexuality."
It is not just in the construction sector that attitudes towards women need to alter, however.
According to Change to Succeed, an organisation specialising in women's professional and personal development, there is still "vast room" for improvement with discrimination.
