Providing for family tops wills wish list

Providing for family or pets to live comfortably is the top concern for people seeking advice on wills and inheritance tax planning.
More than one in four (27 per cent) Brits want to leave enough money for relatives or pets in their wills, according to research from unbiased.co.uk.
Nearly one in five (19 per cent) would like to boost the savings of children or grandchildren, while 15 per cent want to leave enough cash so relatives can put down a deposit on a house.
Furthermore, with higher education costs soaring, 11 per cent said they want to be able to help fund children or grandchildren through university.
"Having a will is critical to ensuring your last wishes are carried out after you're gone," explains Karen Barrett, chief executive at the website behind the study.
Getting professional wills and inheritance tax planning advice from a solicitor helps people organise their affairs, including funeral arrangements, she adds.
Recent research from the website shows, however, that nearly 30 million people in the UK still do not have a will.
