Man lost fingers in poorly-guarded machine

A man in Somerset who lost four fingers in a milling machine may be seeking an accident at work solicitor, after it was revealed that the incident may have been preventable.
Kyle Bishop, 20, was working at the precision engineering company Ashley's in Yeovil when the accident occurred, the Western Gazette reports.
After pressing a black button, which should have been coloured red, he set a machine in motion while holding a cutter, leading to the loss of his fingers.
His employer was fined £10,000, but Mr Bishop's father believes it was an "accident waiting to happen", particularly as an investigation revealed there was insufficient guarding around the machine.
"If I hadn't pressed the button this wouldn't have happened but, then again, if the machinery was safe this wouldn't have happened," Kyle told the newspaper.
It follows news that a manufacturing firm in Cannock has been fined after an employee was pulled into the unguarded rotating parts of a multi-roll forming machine.
