AWR implementation gets green light

Key changes that will see businesses and temporary workers seeking advice from an employment law solicitor service will go ahead as planned, the government has said.
Writing to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), officials refuted reports that prime minister David Cameron was seeking to review Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) at the last minute to reduce the burden on businesses.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills confirmed the legislation would be implemented in full on October 1st.
REC said it would continue to meet senior members of the department over the coming months to assess the impact of the new laws.
Kevin Green, REC chief executive, said: "Whilst we would have welcomed any moves to make life easier for our members, it was always unlikely that any changes would be made at this late stage."
The REC has written to the Prime Minister to emphasise the need to monitor the practical impact of the regulations on the industry, he added.
Mr Green also stressed that the organisation would continue to press for an early review of AWR.
