'Inbetweeners' insolvency warning as teenagers start life in debt

Young people could be more likely to seek help from an insolvency lawyer in future as many are entering adult life already saddled with debts.
The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) is warning that a large number of so-called "inbetweeners" - those aged 18 and 19, are starting life owing large amounts of money.
A total of 753 young people aged 18 and 19 contacted the organisation last year seeking advice on how to deal with an average of £2,254 in unsecured debt.
"These figures show how quickly young people can fall into debt in the first few years of adult life," said CCCS director of external affairs Delroy Corinaldi.
"While financial education is not a silver bullet, it is essential that we give young people the tools to be able to make informed decisions about their finances."
Recent figures have shown a rise in the personal insolvency rate, which R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, believes is unsurprising in the current climate.
Nearly a third of people (30 per cent) do not have any savings, according to organisation's latest personal debt snapshot.
