BT employee wins unfair dismissal claim

A man who lost his job at BT after having an argument with a customer has won a payout after seeking unfair dismissal compensation claim advice.
Colin Shepherd, who had served 22 years at the telecommunications giant and was rated as one of the top 20 advisors, won £15,000 following an employment tribunal which found that his sacking was not merited.
It was discovered that the incident, in which Mr Shepherd got into a dispute with a frustrated customer, was out of character and the employee had been diagnosed with depression just months before.
Employment judge Robert Gall said: "The tribunal was quite clear in its view that in the particular circumstances of this case the dismissal was unfair on the basis that no reasonable employer would have dismissed the claimant."
Summers Dry Cleaners employee Anna Stirrup recently won her case for age discrimination after seeking unfair dismissal compensation claim advice when her boss Ufuoma Obahor told her she was too old to work five days a week.
