Disabled workers 'struggling more in employment market'

Disabled workers may have more reason to seek advice from an employment discrimination claim solicitor since the recession took hold.
According to Inclusive Employers, this group of workers have suffered during the downturn as employers have been making "safer decisions".
Rachel Krys, director at the organisation, believes disabled workers are more likely to be made redundant as some employers have been taking "very harsh decisions" when scaling back their workforce.
She argues that some businesses are failing to give disabled people a "fair chance", noting that is as much down to a lack of knowledge about their responsibilities as active discrimination.
However, she thinks there is very much a mixed bag of employers, with many taking steps to level the playing field for disabled people, particularly when it comes to getting an interview.
"Good employers are really removing those barriers and working really hard to make sure that people can get through the first bit which is the hardest thing," Ms Krys says.
Department for Work and Pensions figures show that disabled people are much less likely to achieve a senior role in an organisation.
A non-disabled person is three times as likely to earn more than £80,000 a year, the statistics reveal.
