Telegraph ordered to pay damages to author

The Daily Telegraph has been ordered to pay an author £65,000 in damages after it lost a claim for malicious falsehood in a litigation and dispute resolution case at the High Court.
Dr Sarah Thornton was awarded the payout following a review of her book, Seven Days in the Art World, by Lynn Barber in the newspaper in 2008.
Sitting at the High Court in London, Mr Justice Tugendhat said the review was "spiteful" and contained factual errors.
The claim related to Ms Barber's assertion that she had not been interviewed by Dr Thornton for her book.
Mr Tugendhat said the reviewer knew that this allegation was untrue when she was writing.
The Daily Telegraph admitted that an online version of the review remained on the newspaper's website until March 2009, despite receiving a complaint days after its initial publication.
A spokesman for the newspaper said: "We are dismayed by this judgment. We believe the findings that Lynn Barber was reckless and motivated by malice are erroneous, and have adverse implications for freedom of expression.
"We shall be seeking leave to appeal at the earliest opportunity."
