College worker seeks old job after unfair dismissal claim

A college worker is seeking her old job after winning an unfair dismissal claim, saying the case was not about the money but proving that the procedure by which she was fired was incorrect.
Learning support assistant Emma Metcalf sought unfair dismissal compensation claim advice after she was fired last year as part of a reorganisation of staff, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
She successfully argued to a tribunal judges that the technique used by the college to fire staff was flawed.
However, Ms Metcalf says she would have her job back "tomorrow" if she could.
"I won my case, but all I want is my job back," she told the newspaper.
"It was degrading having to go to court and my health deteriorated. It's never been about the money. The principle was that it was done wrongly."
Meanwhile, there are talks of Tube strikes over a long-running claim of the unfair dismissal of a member of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union.
