Red Tape Challenge tackles equality legislation

Laws affecting people looking for an employment discrimination claim solicitor are to be reviewed as part of the government's Red Tape Challenge. Attempts by the government to reduce the burden on businesses now moves onto equality legislation and how it affects organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors. The Equality Act 2010 replaced nine major pieces of legislation and scrapped another 100 sets of regulations in order to lighten the burden of red tape on businesses, according to the Home Office. It explained that the Red Tape Challenge is about seeing how much further this process can go. Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone was quick to stress, however, that "the Equality Act is here to stay". She explained: "We want to know whether the act could be simplified, better implemented, or if certain provisions should be dropped or amended, or whether it should be kept exactly as it is." There are six themes that "cut across" the entire Red Tape Challenge. These are employment law, pensions, company law, equalities, health and safety, and environment legislation.
