Cable warns unions over strike action

More workers could be seeking an employment law solicitor service as the government indicates it may tighten up rules on industrial action.
Speaking to the GMB conference in Brighton, business secretary Vince Cable warned against irresponsible strikes causing widespread disruption this summer.
He said the government could introduce legislation to make it harder for workers to strike if walk-outs escalate.
It comes as union leaders call for a day of nationwide strikes by public sector workers on June 30th.
Mr Cable explained that while the level of industrial action is currently very low, the country is entering a "difficult period".
"However, should the position change, and should strikes impose serious damage to our economic and social fabric, the pressure on us to act will ratchet up," he added.
Responding to what it sees as an attack on workers' basic rights, Unite said the business secretary "should be ashamed".
Len McCluskey, the union's general secretary, claimed the government is "clueless" about the economic realities in the UK.
