Businesswoman wins £6m in professional negligence case

A woman has used a professional negligence solicitor service to successfully claim over £6 million in damages for a botched facelift.

Penny Johnson, 49, won her case in the High Court after claiming her career and marriage were ruined by a plastic surgeon who "played God".

She accused Le Roux Fourie of performing "experimental surgery" that led to nerve damage to the right side of her face which has left her with permanent physical and psychological effects.

Mrs Johnson asked the High Court to award her a proportion of the £54 million she said was her potential loss, as a 50 per cent shareholder, when her consultancy business Bishop Cavanagh Ltd failed in 2009.

Mr Justice Owen awarded her £6,190,884.92. Mr Fourie admitted liability but denied the surgery was experimental.

Giving his ruling, the judge said: "Their marriage has survived; but the claimant said in evidence that she is no longer a wife to her husband.

"He says that she is now a completely different person and that their marriage is not what it used to be."
