Woman convicted of faking will

The partner of a millionaire estate agent has been convicted of faking his will after she learned that his divorce had not been finalised. Mr Chris John died of a brain haemorrhage at the age of 47 without taking care of wills and inheritance planning, Newport Crown Court heard. After finding out that he was still married to his wife seven years after separating from her, his partner Gillian Clemo forged his will. In the docuement, Mr John's £5 million fortune was left to his daughter and his sister named an executor. The will contained fake signatures and the daughter's name was misspelt twice, the court was told. Ms Clemo had hoped that the daughter and the sister of her deceased partner would allow her to remain in their Cardiff home. When she learned of the will, Mrs John forged an amendment naming another executor whom she thought would sympathetic to her. She received a police caution but the investigation led to doubts about the will itself. Mrs John now stands to receive the entire estate, while Ms Clemo will get nothing.
