UK to be 'centre of excellence' for corporate legal services

The UK could become a world leader in banking and financial solicitor services under new plans announced by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Britain is already a centre of excellence for corporate legal services, the MoJ said, as it unveiled a new Action Plan that sets out how the country's commercial arbitration, court and mediation services will be promoted to a global audience.
The UK's commercial dispute resolution and corporate legal services sector currently generates £23.1 billion per year, according to the MoJ.
Justice secretary Kenneth Clarke said: "There are few areas where Britain is stronger than in the law.
"Whether it's in the provision of legal services, the use of our courts for the resolution of disputes, or the application of English law for contracting, the UK is truly a global centre of excellence."
Earlier this year, justice minister Jonathan Djanogly said the legal industry makes a "huge contribution" to the UK economy and has an "excellent reputation" around the world.
