'Tricky' outlook for residential property conveyancing

The outlook for the residential property conveyancing market may not be entirely positive in 2011, it has been suggested. Homebuyers face a "tricky" year ahead of them as there is only going to be a "slight improvement" in the number of houses coming on the market, according to iammoving.com. Jon Brown, partnership manager at the change of address company, said there may even be less support for people buying their first home in 2011 than there was last year. He expects to see a "lull" in residential property conveyancing over Easter, however this will pick up again after. "In the summer months up to August and September, we will be frantic again because people want to move during the good weather, as they want to have that nice home mover experience," he explained. His comments come after Lloyds TSB revealed that the number of property transactions in England and Wales decreased by 47 per cent over the last three years. The figures also indicate a regional split, with house sales in the south down 42 per cent compared to 51 per cent in the north of the country. Posted by Georgina Price
