Regional commercial property market 'patchy'

People seeking property investment advice have been told that the market is "very patchy" with great regional variations.
Although there have been some "big deals" in some areas, the commercial property sector is "very stock specific" and many areas are finding it hard to attract buyers, according to Ed Stansfield from Capital Economics.
Commercial property solicitors outside of the capital will be dealing with UK-based funds and companies, while in London international buyers and sovereign wealth funds "are very active".
"The markets outside of London are not dead by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a very patchy market and very selective in terms of what people will and won't buy," explained Mr Stansfield.
He suggested that opportunities exist where owners want to get rid of vacant properties, though it will be difficult to establish market level valuations for some time to come.
It comes after the Investment Property Databank reported that the UK commercial property market maintained its marginal capital growth rate, at 0.2 per cent in February.
