London postcodes 'perform best in property auctions'

People using residential property conveyancing services may consider heading to auctions to invest in a new home. According to Savills auctioneer Paul Mooney, this method of buying has proved successful for many people. The company's first auction of the year was held this week and some 87 per cent of properties were sold, with Mr Mooney concluding it was "a very strong day". He said the results are probably the best seen for approximately 12 months and the room "was packed" with those keen to bid.
"The strongest lots were those in London, demonstrating that London postcodes are still the hottest properties to buy," Mr Mooney commented. In one case, two buyers were bidding for a Battersea house that came with a guide price of £700,000 but eventually sold for £900,000, he added. The next national auction to be hosted by Savills will take place on March 28th, with a regional event on March 24th. Posted by Gaby Hamerton
