REC reprimands 5 recruitment firms for breaching competition rules

Five construction recruitment firms have been reprimanded by the industry's main trade organisation.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has slapped the wrists of five companies that have already admitted breaching the Competition Act in an Office of Fair Trading (OFT) investigation.
According to the OFT, the firms have taken the necessary measures to avoid such future breaches that could see the involvement of a employment law solicitor service.
The firms; Anders Elite, Eden Brown Ltd, Fusion People Ltd, Henry Recruitment Ltd and Randstad CPE have been publicly reprimanded by the REC's Professional Standards Committee (PSC) for breaking its Code of Professional Practice.
Phil Westwood, chair of the PSC, said: "These members had convinced both the OFT and the REC that they had learnt their lesson and taken the necessary action to ensure that further breaches of the Competition Act and the REC Code of Professional Practice do not occur."
The REC recently warned its members of so-called pay when paid clauses in employment contracts.
