Equal Pay Day begins

Equal Pay Day has begun today (November 2nd), which is a scheme established by the Fawcett Society that may affect those interested in employment law advice.
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has also expressed its support of the scheme, which is urging female managers, businesses and the government to condemn gender discrimination in the workplace.
CMI chief executive Ruth Spellman said: "Cuts to childcare and housing benefit announced in the recent spending review put women at a huge disadvantage when they are already paid significantly less than men."
Meanwhile, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has revealed a new report which indicates that progress towards decreasing the pay gap between men and women is stalling.
The research has revealed that females aged 40 earn 27 per cent less than males of the same age, on average, whereas women with degrees are likely to face a four per cent reduction in lifetime earnings as a result of parenthood.
