Tommy Sheridan on trial over defamation

A new litigation and dispute resolution action involving former Scottish parliament leader Tommy Sheridan and his wife sees the pair on trial accused of lying during a previous case brought against the News of the World.
Mr Sheridan won £200,000 after the newspaper printed false rumours regarding his private life. He is in court facing follow-up accusations, including those from a 35-year-old woman alleging that he believes party members were "out to get him".
Katrine Trolle, who is an ex-colleague of Mr Sheridan's, claims she told Mr Sheridan that his suspicions were "in his own mind".
Mr Sheridan is placed on trial for three indictments, as he denies making false statements in court on July 21st and 31st 2006, while also rejecting claims that he tried to persuade a witness to commit perjury.
Earlier this month, Mr Sheridan relieved his legal team of their duties and confirmed that he would be representing himself.
