Pre-nup case upheld for divorced couple

Prenuptial agreements may be regarded as enforceable for private clients in some divorce settlement cases, after a landmark ruling in the UK at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court decided to rule in favour of Katrin Radmacher, a 40-year-old heiress who was aiming to defend her personal savings of over 100m from her ex-husband Nicolas Granatino.
Prior to their split, the couple signed a prenuptial agreement to ensure that neither party would gain any monetary benefit in the case of a divorce.
Katrin Radmacher said: "I'm delighted that Britain has upheld fairness. It is important to me that no one else should have to go through this."
This news comes after the House of Lords discussed reforming divorce law earlier this week.
One of the topics that was debated in the meeting tabled by Baroness Ruth Deech was prenuptial agreements, as the government considers potential new policies for divorce governance and referenced the laws of other European countries.
