Health and safety report published

A report on health and safety entitled Common Sense, Common Safety has been released by Lord Young, which may interest those seeking employment law advice.
Lord Young is the prime minister's adviser on health and safety law and practice and all of his proposals have been approved by the David Cameron and the cabinet.
The proposals call for constraints on the advertising of no win, no fee compensation claims, as well as a new common sense mentality for educational visits which would mean that parents would only have to complete one approval form before their children can attend trips.
Commenting on the report, Mr Cameron said:"Good health and safety is vitally important. But all too often good, straightforward legislation designed to protect people from major hazards has been extended inappropriately to cover every walk of life."
Last month, the Chief Fire Officers Association urged a reassessment of health and safety regulations after fires occurred in buildings that were undergoing construction in Peckham, Camberwell and Basingstoke.
