People urged to track down pension schemes

Private clients who have not thoroughly tracked their workplace and personal pension schemes from previous employers are being urged to track them down to ensure that they receive all of their entitlements when they retire.
This advice comes from the Department of Work and Pensions, which runs a free pension tracing service that has seen more than 350,000 users since its establishment in 2005.
A recent survey of customers shows that around one in five discovered a lost pension after using the service, with five per cent of these receiving weekly payments of more than £100 and seven per cent gaining a lump sum in excess of £20,000.
Pensions minister Steve Webb, said: "People need to make sure they're claiming everything they're entitled to in retirement."
The extra money that could be potentially gained from old pensions could boost the bank accounts of employees, especially after recent research revealed that more people are saving money in case they are made redundant.
The survey from Legal & General was published in September and figures suggest that now 40 per cent of British males have been making savings since February 2009, when only 30 per cent were doing so.
