BBA embraces Independent Commission's new banking paper

The British Bankers Association has recently welcomed a new issues paper by the Independent Commission on Banking (ICOB) and believes that it can co-operate together with the group to improve the banking industry in the UK, which may have an effect on banking and financial solicitor services.
Angela Knight, chief executive of the British Bankers' Association, said: "We welcome the issues paper by the Independent Commission on Banking and the opportunity to contribute to the debate on the future structure of the UK banking industry.
"We believe that when you look at the issues the commission identifies, and place them against the experience of the crisis, then we have the potential for constructive solutions that take us where we ought to be."
The ICOB has set a range of different aims within its new issues paper, which include securing a stronger and better functioning financial system and to make banks individually more resilient to shocks.
In addition, the ICOB set other areas of interest, including lending and the pace of economic recovery, competitiveness in financial services and the wider economy, and risks to the government's fiscal position.
