Small construction sites targeted by safety initiative

A new safety initiative that has been launched is set to target small-scale construction sites in an attempt to improve the health and safety of sites, in a move that should interest those considering to make a workplace accident compensation claim.
The initiative will be launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in sites across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, where HSE inspectors specialising in construction will be visiting to offer support and advice to workers and contractors.
Neil Jamieson, Principal Inspector at HSE in the North West, said: "Construction is one of Britain's most dangerous industries so we want to do all we can to offer support and advice to construction companies and their employees."
This news comes after Preston engineering company, Autoy Ltd, was fined £17,500 by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) at Preston Crown Court last month, after 45-year-old Michael Lohaza was discovered dead following a personal injury site at the site on January 10th 2009.
