EU commission delivers new economic governance package

The European Commission has introduced a legislative package that will affect corporate legal services, with measures representing the most comprehensive reinforcement of economic governance in the European Union (EU) since Economic and Monetary Union was established.
Comprised of six pieces of legislation, four proposals consider fiscal issues, including a wide-ranging reform of the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP). Two more new regulations intend to locate and address effectively the emerging macroeconomic imbalances within the EU.
Each reform is compatible with the existing Treaty of Lisbon and aspires to guarantee that the EU and the euro area benefit from more efficient economic policy coordination, which should supply the required strength to provide jobs and "sound economic policies".
This news comes after UK business secretary Vince Cable announced that the British government will start a full review into corporate governance and economic short-termism, which he defined as "an increasing problem for our economy".
