Equestrian businesses get head and spinal injury claim advice

A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) event has helped members of the horse industry in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire avoid head and spinal injury claims from riders.
Held at Oaklands College in St Albans, the workshop offered information on health and safety issues surrounding horse riding, which can often be dangerous if those involved fall off or have another accident.
Up to 30 took part in the event, which covered risk assessment in a hazard-spotting exercise and the dangers involved in heavy lifting, driving all-terrain vehicles and riding without a helmet.
Penny Leede, inspector for the HSE, said: "Handling and riding horses is a satisfying and enjoyable experience, however it is important to stay safe around horses to avoid unnecessary accidents or injuries."
A science worker who was badly burned following an explosion is to sue his employers, Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, over the personal injury, the Cambridge News recently reported.
