Yorkshire firm 'inviting personal injury claims'

A company manufacturing machinery for the food and pharmaceutical industries has been fined following a breach of health and safety rules.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) discovered during an inspection of Lambert Engineering in Tadcaster that it was encouraging personal injury claims by allowing its own machines to be operated unsafely.
A guilty plea was given at Selby Magistrates Court and the business was left with a fine of £6,000 and an order to pay costs of £4,198 thanks to its neglect for keeping its employees safe.
Geoff Fletcher, inspector with the HSE, said: "The company failed to ensure that their machines and specifically the safeguarding mechanism were maintained effectively, allowing dangerous practices to develop and remain unchecked over some ten years."
The HSE recently told local authorities that they may face personal injury claims if they do not make sure their waste and recycling programmes are up to scratch and compliant with regulations.
