Mortgage lending set to drop

Those seeking residential conveyancing services could find that their chances of securing a property loan are reduced in the next few months.
That is according to Andy Pratt, chief operating officer at Alexander Hall, who suggested that the amount being lent by mortgage providers is set to fall before improving again in the autumn.
Mr Pratt said that Council of Mortgage Lenders figures for August will have to be released before a better picture of the market is formed, but preliminary feedback suggests that there were fewer loans offered in the month.
"There is always a good increase [around] September - there is stock on the market. Finance is going to act as a limiting factor, but I think that activity is looking better in September," he added.
Ben Wilkie, editor for What Mortgage, recently said that those looking to secure residential conveyancing services might agree that the fortunes of the UK's housing market are closely linked with wider consumer confidence.
