Retirement planning 'a high priority for UK consumers'

Citizens seeking financial advice are keen to learn more about retirement planning issues, it has been suggested.
A report by unbiased.co.uk indicated that 49 per cent of those looking for guidance on monetary matters are eager to establish how they can manage in their later years.
In comparison, 27 per cent of searches were for investment and savings advice.
Karen Barrett, chief executive of the organisation, said it is important for individuals to have a degree of clarity when it comes to money-related issues.
"Retirement planning is a vastly complex area and only an independent financial adviser can look at all the factors relevant to an individual and their circumstances," she said.
Ms Barrett commented that such an approach can help citizens gauge what kind of strategy to adopt once the market as a whole has been analysed.
The remarks follow the comments of Charlie Thomas, executive editor of Pensions Management, who said that it is better for people to save sooner rather than later.
