Fine handed out following asbestos incident

Interserve (Defence) Ltd has been fined £33,000 for potentially exposing Ministry of Defence (MOD) workers to asbestos fibres.
This followed a Health and Safety Executive investigation, which also resulted in the company being ordered to pay costs of £17,936.
In 2005, an asbestos survey was carried out at an MOD base in Arncott, Bicester, finding that the substance was present in a boiler room.
Despite the warning, Interserve did not follow up the advice and as a consequence, many individuals at the facility ran the risk of exposure for one year.
Matthew Lee, HSE inspector for Oxfordshire, commented on some of the dangers associated with asbestos.
He said it is "essential that duty holders and facilities managers are aware of the risk it still poses and their responsibilities in managing".
In addition, the substance is outlawed in the UK but is still used in many other countries' construction industries, including China.
