Debt problems 'can lead to mental health issues'

Those looking to receive advice for personal insolvency matters might have noted an expert's verdict that debt problems can sometimes lead to mental health issues.
According to Dr Jim Bolton, spokesperson for the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the frequency of these kinds of troubles might increase as the effects of the recession continue to mount.
"If you've got debt worries it doubles the likelihood that you might have a mental health problem," he said.
Dr Bolton went on to add: "The more debts you have, the more likely you are to suffer with stress".
He also cited issues such as anxiety and depression as being potential outcomes of finance-related worries.
The remarks follow news from Mind that 96 per cent of people reported increased levels of anxiety after they were visited by bailiffs.
In addition, 65 per cent of respondents claimed they were subjected to aggressive behaviour during the encounter.
