People should save earlier, expert says

An expert has indicated that people in the UK should start saving as soon as they can.
Charlie Thomas, executive editor of Pensions Management, discussed the merits of putting funds aside as a young adult.
"There is no golden age to start saving, but the earlier the better," she said.
Ms Thomas went on to add that many individuals "are starting to look at other savings vehicles, rather than pension pots".
For instance, ISAs could offer consumers a degree of flexibility, while some employers provide schemes that enable workers to lock in investments and sell them once they have matured.
Indeed, occupational workplace pension initiatives can often match an individual's own contributions.
Meanwhile, a BBC Newsnight poll - produced through ComRes - recently showed that almost three quarters of people believe the nature of retirement will change in the future.
In fact, 70 per cent of respondents said they do not think living on a pension for up to 30 years is a viable option.
