Newcastle City Council fined following injury to girl

Those looking to receive legal advice for personal injury matters might have noted news that Newcastle City Council have been fined following an accident involving a five-year-old girl.
The youngster suffered the incident when her hand was struck by the rotating blades of a fan at the north-east destination's Discovery Museum, which led the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to prosecute the local authorities.
Following the episode, the girl required immediate surgery to severe injuries caused after her hand came into contact with the power source, which should have been protected by a guard.
Carol Forster, an HSE inspector, commented: "The serious injuries that this young girl suffered could easily have been avoided."
She added that the exhibit had been in operation for years, "yet the gap had not been fixed".
Elsewhere, a building firm in Ealing has been fined after a worker's hand was injured in a machine, following an HSE investigation.
