Scottish properties 'require lower repayments'

Those looking to benefit from residential conveyancing services might be interested to learn that the costs associated with home purchasing in Scotland are typically lower than elsewhere in the UK.

David Marshall, business analyst for ESPC, suggested that purchasers north of the border are required to bear less of a financial weight than in other parts of these shores.

He said that Scotland traditionally has lower house prices, adding: "The country as a whole is currently benefiting from low interest rates and those who are already in a home - and have a mortgage - will benefit from lower repayments."

However, Mr Marshall noted that there are exceptions to the rule, with cities such as Edinburgh regularly posting higher price averages than other parts of the UK.

According to the latest Scottish House Price Monitor from Lloyds TSB Scotland, the nation's home values went up by 0.8 per cent in the three months to July 31st 2010.
