Gap year insurance cover 'can be affordable'

Insurance cover for a young adult's gap year travel arrangements can come at an affordable price, it has been suggested.
According to moneysupermarket.com, it is possible to obtain a deal for all kinds of activities undertaken abroad, including scuba diving, mountaineering and parachuting.
The group claims that such pastimes can be covered by under an annual £110 agreement with a travel insurance provider.
Addressing those preparing to embark on their holidays directly, Bob Atkinson, travel expert at the organisation, said: "Forsaking travel insurance for your trip could turn out to be a costly choice to make and not one I would recommend."
He added that people should take out the appropriate cover as soon as they book their journey.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers has suggested that students should ensure items such as iPods, laptops and expensive clothes get the right protection before they head to university this coming academic year.
