Bike theft hotspots could intrigue insurance claimants

Cyclists keen to secure insurance cover might have noted news from one organisation about some of the biggest bike theft hotspots.
Aviva undertook research and received feedback from 2,000 riders about their experiences of having their two-wheelers stolen.
One-third of respondents claimed to have had their bike taken in the last five years, with locations outside offices and train stations cited as the places where problems often occur.
Ian Coull, household claims manager at Aviva, said with the August Bank Holiday coming up, "bike owners should be especially careful not to provide rich pickings to opportunistic thieves targeting bike hotspots and poor security methods".
The organisation carried out an experiment in which it planted a bike outside a shop in west London, only for it to be snatched within 20 minutes.
In other insurance-related news, M&S Money recently revealed that a high number of UK holidaymakers leave their home unoccupied during their travels.
