Home security measures 'vital for holidaymakers'

M&S Money has advised that holidaymakers should ensure their properties are kept secure prior to embarking on their summer excursion, in news that may have caught the attention of those keen to obtain insurance services.
The group conducted a poll which found that 69 per cent of Britons are intending to head off for at least one night during August, with 51 per cent revealing they will leave their home empty.
Furthermore, the study showed that 68 per cent of citizens typically leave their keys with family, neighbours or friends, with 17 per cent admitting they sometimes leave keys hidden outside their residence.
Andrew Ferguson, head of general insurance at the group, encouraged homeowners to ensure they take measures to protect their home before they set off on their travels.
He added: "It is important that security measures you take are in line with the terms and conditions of your policy to ensure you have adequate cover should the worst happen."
Meanwhile, those looking for an insurance deal might have recently noted that 27 per cent of under-18s who have hosted a house party have had items broken.
