Many UK citizens 'not prepared for retirement'

A high proportion of UK citizens have not made provisions for their impending retirement, according to a study.
The latest Retirement Nation Report from MGM Advantage showed that the number of over-55s who feel ready for the latter stages of life has fallen.
In total, the findings revealed that 1.2 million feel ill-equipped to deal with the financial rigours associated with this period.
Craig Fazzini-Jones, director at the organisation, stated: "It is hugely worrying that so many people nearing retirement are unprepared for the financial implications of this stage of their lives."
He went on to add that it is "crucial that people are extremely proactive in checking their finances at this time".
In addition, 15 per cent of UK adults surveyed by the group said they have received monetary advice from a professional.
Meanwhile, Mark Lyonette, chief executive of the Association of British Credit Unions, recently suggested that people should contemplate using credit unions as a means of managing their personal funds.
