UK citizens 'wasting £4.4bn per year'

Insolvency and restructuring experts will perhaps be offering advice to many consumers this year, after MSN Money revealed that the nation is wasting £4.4 billion a year through carelessness and neglect.
From putting the wrong fuel in a car's engine to leaving keys inside a house, there are a variety of ways in which contractors are spending cash that ought to be left untouched.
Simon Ward, senior editor for the web resource, stated: "Ensuring we are keeping on top of basic costs and trying to keep a more watchful eye out is key to saving money in the long run."
He also said that hectic lifestyles mean that people often leave items behind or fail to meet payments.
The research also showed that one in ten drivers admit to mistakenly using diesel instead of petrol when filling up their car.
Elsewhere in personal finance news, Patrick Connolly, head of communications at AWD Chase de Vere, observed that many savers are unsure over whether to save cash or make investments.
