Why insurance could be a priority for UK students

Many students in the UK might be keen to obtain an insurance deal, in light of news that the typical learner takes almost £4,000 worth of valuables to university.
Endsleigh - which offers property and automotive cover, among other services - conducted research into the types of items brought to halls of residences and private dwellings, from mp3 players and digital cameras to sports equipment.
In fact, those walking through campus or town usually carry £1,305 worth of items, including laptops and books.
While the former is the most popular possession among learners, other common sights on university premises include games consoles - owned by 23 per cent of respondents - and hair straighteners, which belong to 49 per cent.
Aaron Porter, president of the National Union of Students, stated: "Taking precautions against theft and damage can provide you with valuable peace of mind and ensure that you are not left out of pocket at a time when money can be particularly tight."
