Insurance news: Rural crime 'on the rise'

When seeking the services of an insurance solicitor, news that rural crime appears to be on the rise may be at the forefront of people's mind.
According to research by NFU Mutual, those living in the countryside would be well advised to bolster their security measures.
In fact, 70 per cent of the organisation's agents reported that crime increased between January and June 2010 when compared with the equivalent period last year.
Moreover, 64 per cent of those polled indicated that improvements to security would have a beneficial impact in reducing such unauthorised activity.
John Kenny, chief claims manager at NFU Mutual, stated: "It's disappointing to see rural crime is on the increase and that rural homes and businesses, in particular farms, have become rich pickings for thieves."
Meanwhile, a recent study by the Motor Insurers' Bureau showed that three of the top five uninsured driving hotspots in the UK were in the West Midlands.
