UK households 'spending more than £18.5k a year on bills'

When looking for an expert in insolvency and restructuring issues, news that households in the UK are typically spending more than £18,500 a year on bills may be at the forefront of people's minds.
This is judging by research from Confused.com, which included rent or mortgage payments, utilities and the weekly shop as part of its projected figure.
In total, the findings show that these costs equate to approximately £1,541 per month.
Also, this represents a rise in the cost of living by £642.12 in the past 12 months, which may have been noted by anyone with personal insolvency issues.
Responding to the figures, a spokesperson for the site stated: "Times have been tough for a few years and people are really noticing the difference in their bank balances."
The representative added that with the effects of the recession still apparent, "paying the bills is yet another money worry".
Meanwhile, the Office for National Statistics recently revealed that public sector debt rose to £14.billion in June.
