Audiological physician 'can answer hearing loss queries'

Those seeking noise-induced hearing loss claims might agree with an expert's assessment regarding the importance of getting sound medical advice.
Responding to a question posed in the Telegraph, Dr Neil Bateman, a consultant ear, nose and throat surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire and Sheffield Children's Hospitals, gave his advice to a reader who claimed his voice sounds to him as though he's "underwater" when in a busy public place.
He said that in such a scenario, it is best to consult an audiological physician, as conventional testing might not provide answers.
In the meantime, Dr Bateman advised: "The best way of dealing [with] this is by employing techniques which will distract you from this noise."
Regarding this kind of muffled hearing - sometimes known as King-Kopetsky syndrome - he observed: "Some audiologists claim that the condition is made worse by anxiety."
Furthermore, it could be said that those who work in environments where decibel levels are high might want to pursue various legal avenues in terms of industrial deafness compensation.
