Many UK holidaymakers 'do not have travel insurance'

Those keen to obtain the services of an insurance solicitor might be interested to learn that more than 500,000 UK travellers with a medical condition failed to inform their insurer before setting off on a journey in the last 12 months.
This is according to Sainsbury's Travel Insurance, which outlined how people with long-term medical complaints can potentially invalidate their claims.
In particular, 245,000 holidaymakers did not tell their insurer they had severe back pain.
A total of 110,000 travellers went abroad with a respiratory condition which was unaccounted for.
Scott Gorman, Sainsbury's Travel Insurance manager, stated: "Good travel insurance can prove vital if you fall ill abroad so it's really important that people are open and honest with their insurer."
The study found that 22 per cent of people who did not inform their insurer made this decision because they did not think their condition was relevant.
Recently, M&S Money advised that holidaymakers who travel to the Caribbean this summer independently of a package tour might not be able to claim the costs of any cancelled flights.
