People 'need to know their rights concerning wills'

Consumers need to be aware of their rights and the options available to them when writing their wills and appointing executors.
This is according to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), which noted that it is possible to appoint either a professional or a lay person to administer their estates in the event of their deaths.
If a friend or family member is selected for this role, they can choose to be assisted by a professional if they need to when the time comes.
In a recent development, the Solicitors Regulation Authority published new guidance on the subject.
David Stallibrass, director of services at the OFT - which is an independent organisation that aims to make markets work well for consumers - said people should be able to make an informed choice about who they select as an executor in their will.
He added: "Preparing a will is important to make sure that your wishes are respected after your death."
