Paternity right plans criticised by union representative

Plans announced by the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition concerning the rights of working fathers have received criticism.
The administration revealed it intends to remove barriers to flexible working and promote equal pay among employees.
However, according to Michelle Singleton, assistant policy officer for Unison, it failed to state an intention to add to paternity leave.
She commented: "We're not now going to see the extra two weeks that fathers would have got for paternity leave, which is something that was in the Labour manifesto and is now not on the table."
Ms Singleton added that the new government is "giving with one and taking with the other" in terms of parental employment rights.
Her remarks followed the Queen's Speech, which was given last week.
According to figures produced by the Government Equalities Office last year, 51 per cent of working parents polled felt their relationships with their children would improve if they could work flexibly.
