Female workers 'still subject to discrimination'

Women are still not treated fairly at work, it has been suggested.
According to Toni Eastwood, training director at everywoman, they continue to struggle to be seen as worth as much as their male counterparts in the eyes of employers.
Commenting on the issue, she said: "From our experience it is true to say that in many cases women do have to work extra hard, often with gritty determination to prove their worth [and] to attain top positions."
She added that there has been a lot of media debate since the credit crunch concerning whether there should be greater representation of females at board level within companies.
Having women in such roles has proved to be beneficial to organisations "time and again", she added.
Her remarks came after the release of research conducted by a team at Duke University, which found that women who do succeed in getting the top jobs are credited with responsibility for their own success and are viewed as better leaders.
